Learning, Leading, Succeeding

A picture of Jamie Bell in the hallway.

Mrs. Jamie Bell teaches the STEAMA class for elementary grade students at Kenansville Elementary School (KES). She supports learning at KES by working with our teachers and staff to integrate STEAMA activities into the classroom lessons being taught to her students. She says that Duplin County Schools is unique because of the Agriculture component of STEAMA which is so prevalent in Duplin County. Mrs. Bell is proud of the many opportunities that she is able to give her students through her STEAMA class, such as instilling the value of working together, even though we may not always agree and have different opinions.

Over 30 students participated in the state convention bringing home 10 national placements. Elementary BETA has hosted a sock drive, a Coats for Kids coat drive, and a toy drive for the children's hospital in memory of Layla Mewborn.

Kylie Pate is a kindergarten student at Kenansville Elementary School (KES). She excels academically, is empathetic, is a good role model for other students, and is an excellent peer tutor. When she grows up she would like to be a zoo keeper.  Kylie says KES is preparing her to know how to care for animals. Carpet time is Kylie’s favorite time of her school day. KES is special to her because of her favorite teacher, Mrs. Robyn Sutton.
